Please accept my condolences on the passing of your husband Don Ohlmeyer. In 1955-56 When Don was in 5th grade at OLPH school in Glenview, I was his 5th grade teacher. There were 63 students in his class - but I have always remembered Don for his inquisitiveness and creativity. One memory is of Don and a classmate using yardsticks to show just how big a whale could be. For some reason, we had been talking about those mammals, and we could not visualize the size in the classroom. That afternoon was my day to monitor the buses that would take students home. Don and a friend used multiple yardsticks to illustrate the size. After all these years (I am now 87 years young), I can still see them laying down those sticks. I also recall that Don was instrumental in bringing the film Cross of Fire (about the KKK in Indiana) to TV. I always told my daughters and husband that Don was "my claim to fame." Rest in Peace! It made us very sad to hear about Don's passing. He was a good friend to Steve and me during a difficult time. He was lucky to have you, Linda. Clearly his family meant so very much to him. Simply, he was a good man and we are grateful to have known him.

I had the pleasure of working with Don and his very talented team at NBC Sports. Thanks to Don Ohlmeyer, I was so fortunate to work for his VP of Sports Operations, Don Baer. One of my fondest memories is Super Bowl XV in New Orleans -- I will never forget the wonderful Jazz Cruise hosted by NBC Sports.

Don was always a gentleman, he was always so kind to me. Linda, how blessed Don was to have you by his side. May you, and your beautiful family, all find some comfort in knowing that he is no longer in pain and is now in the very special company of close family and good friends. They missed him, too.

When things settle down, celebrate his wonderful life -- do something happy and uplifting -- maybe a nice Jazz Cruise in his beautiful New Orleans.

Sent with love and heartfelt condolences,

I knew Don from his freshman year at ND. He was often like a brother and my mother was his "house mother" when he lived off campus senior year. So many fond memories. When I ran into him on a plane in 1992 he was amazed that I recognized him. I reminded him of his height and truly anyone looking at his picture who knew him in college would understand that he didn't show his age. I feel blessed that I knew him. Truly a class act.

I knew Don for more than 40 years and very much liked and respected him. Since I was a journalist covering his network we sometimes bumped heads but we always got over it with our friendship intact. I was very sorry to learn of Don's death and I extend my deepest sympathy to his family. Don was a talented executive, a loyal friend, a devoted husband, father and grandfather and a loving son but most of all he was a very good man. Rest in peace, old friend.

I had the opportunity to work with Don when I was the Marine Corps Liaison for Hollywood. I worked with him on ABC movie-of-the-week following the first Gulf War and then he and I crossed paths frequently when move to Pres of NBC West Coast - to include working with him on Bob Hope's 90th Birthday Party there on the NBC lot in Burbank.

He was a mentor and a friend. And was always so very kind to me. To the point that he was one of four people that participated in my promotion ceremony at Nicky Blair's restaurant that pinned the rank of lieutenant colonel on my uniform. It was special having him, my mom, actor Gerald McRaney and retired Marine Corps Major General Don Fulham share that moment with me.

Along with that I'll always remember his favorite quote on his wall in his office at Ohlmeyer Communications that hung next to his many Emmy's - No good deed goes unpunished.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this sad time.

God bless and RIP, Don.

Rewrote the script for NBC tv movie "Under Siege" on location in Little Rock after he had the state capitol dome "blown up". Intense. Perfectionist. Made me work very hard as network PR guy on the show. Called daily. Brilliant. We got a 38 share. Won the night. What a guy! Never without a creative thought. RIP. Will never be forgotten.
